Internet gambling is growing in the United States and three states have already legalized internet gambling thanks to a ruling by the Justice department that cleared the way for intrastate internet gambling. Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey have legalized and several other states are discussing the possibility of legalization. The online gaming market is growing and the mobile and social gaming markets are growing at an astounding rate. Land based gambling is well established in the United States. Outside the US internet gambling generates about $32 billion annually and operators in the US want a piece of the pie.

While gaming experts remain positive about the future of internet gaming in the US most are saying that the future of the industry is in mobile and social gaming. Some estimate that mobile gaming could easily generate $100 billion during the next four or five years. Internet gambling markets may see stiff competition from social casino games which have already attracted millions of players on the social networking site Facebook. Since Facebook has about 900 million regular users globally the potential for social gaming can easily be seen. In New Jersey the new law allows casinos to operate online gambling sites and most experts say that it is only a matter of time before they launch their own social gaming applications.

There are already several social games ready to play. On Facebook Slotomania and Slots Farm are incredibly popular. There are also several internet bingo games for real money. Unfortunately all of the Facebook real money games are only available in the UK and Europe. In addition to playing slots players can chat, send gifts like coins, chips and other cyber gifts to friends and competitors while playing on Facebook. Like any internet gambling site Slotomania and Slots Farm offer players bonuses, special promotions, social casino tournaments and many other player perks and benefits. There are millions of regular players on Facebook that have either “liked” a game or are actively participating in the many social games available on the site.

MySpace was originally created as a social networking site and focused on musicians to gain popularity. Recent reports say that the co-founder of MySpace, Chris DeWolfe, is getting ready to launch a social casino gaming studio that has already attracted investors including the founder of online retail site Amazon. Rumor has it that Google’s Executive Chairman has also invested. The future of mobile and social gaming looks very bright!
